Powering the circular economy in Nelson

Partnering with local companies to power the circular economy in Nelson.

Waste is a valuable resource, which can be reused, redirected, or recycled back into the circular economy.

Waste Management Nelson has partnered with Wholesale Landscapes to receive waste from the farming, fishing and horticulture industries (vineyards & orchards). This waste is repurposed and blended with processed forestry residues to create high-grade compost and growing medias that assist with the replacement of fertilisers, which also helps put nutrients back into the soil.

Waste Management has also partnered with Nelson’s Azwood Energy to provide an environmental clean-up solution for the construction industry.  It sees wood waste repurposed into a range of high-quality wood fuels, used to provide heating to Kiwis around New Zealand.

With annual increases in the Government’s Waste Disposal Levy and Emission Trading Scheme, it’s important to look for solutions that reduce waste and maximise materials recovery. It’s great for the environment and helps to reduce your costs.
